The Maryland Theatre Partners with Krumpe’s Do-nuts
(Hagerstown, MD) The Maryland Theatre has reached an agreement with HighRock Studios and Krumpe’s Do-nut Shop, Inc to partner on the Middletown Valley Bank Krumpe’s Donut Drop on New Year’s Eve on the square in downtown Hagerstown beginning with the 2019/2020 event.
The Krumpe’s Donut Drop was developed by HighRock and Krumpe’s Do-nuts in 2013 as a fun, family friendly event to bring residents into the downtown Hagerstown area on a night that was typically quiet for restaurants and shops. The partnership with the Maryland Theatre further supports the efforts of Downtown Hagerstown and now allows a local nonprofit to spearhead the event as well. Melissa Fountain, Events Manager at the Maryland Theatre, will continue to manage all aspects of sponsorship sales and logistics for the event. HighRock Studios will continue to offer marketing and design services. The event will continue to take place at the Clock Tower Building on West Washington Street. “We want to continue to offer this amazing night of fun to the community,” says Krumpe’s Do-nut Shop Operations Manager, Max Krumpe, “We are confident the event will continue to be successful under the current leadership.”
The Krumpe’s Donut Drop is free to the public. The Krumpe’s family gives away 5,000 free donuts before a giant donut descends from the clock tower on the square to ring in the new year early – at 7:00pm. The event attracts around 6,000 attendees each year and has expanded to include a Kid’s Zone, live music and fireworks. “We’re excited to be hosting this event as a fundraiser for the Maryland Theatre,” says Jessica Green, Executive Director of the Maryland Theatre. “We plan to continue all of the popular features of the donut drop and are considering expanding the event into the new Performing Arts Center.”
The historic Maryland Theatre was built in 1915 and is the anchor for the Arts & Entertainment district in Hagerstown, Maryland. The theatre has a seating capacity of 1,300 and welcomes over 100,000 guests annually. The adjacent Performing Arts Center will host public and private events in unique event spaces.
Founded in 1934, Krumpe’s Do-nut Shop has become a local icon in Hagerstown and surrounding areas. The goal of Krumpe’s is to continue to make the very best quality do-nuts and to provide the best service so that their customers can continue to enjoy this Hagerstown tradition.
